In the Name of God, Amen, I Henry Rittenhouse of Germantown Township, Philadelphia County in the state of Pennsylvania, farmer, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say I will to my wife Margaret Rittenhouse the whole of the income from my estate during her widowhood. In case she should get married again, then she is to have one third of the income. After the appraisement of my personal goods, she may use as much of it as she has occasion for to keep house with. The remainder of my personal estate to be sold at public sale as soon as convenient after my death and after my funeral expenses and other debts are paid, the remainder or overplus to be put into interest. After the death of my wife my real estate is to be sold and the money with interest is to be equally divided share and share alike unto my five children, Isaac, Peter, William, Joseph, and Catharine and their lawful heirs. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my two sons Peter and William Rittenhouse to be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament. And lastly I ratify this for my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness whereof I have put my hand and seal this thirtieth day of April one Thousand eight hundred and seventeen..

subscribed our names as Witnesses in presence of
the Testator.

Philadelphia May 14th 1817. There personally appeared Joseph Bockins and Jacob Horton two of the witnesses to the foregoing Will and on their solemn oaths did declare and dispose and say that they did see and hear Henry Rittenhouse the Testator and in the Will named make his mark, and publish and declare the said Will named for his last Will and Testament and have at the doing thereof he was of sound mind and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief.

Sworn the same day and Letters, Testamentary granted them.
