Deceased Name: ADRIAN O'BRIEN, 73, POPULAR SINGER\\ IN BOSTON CLUBS FOR THREE DECADES
Adrian O'Brien, a popular singer on radio and in nightclubs in Boston for many years, collapsed and died yesterday while taking a walk in Somerville. He was 73.

For the last two years he had lived in a Somerville nursing home, and often in the afternoon he would take a walk to a nearby restaurant for a pizza and a Coke. He was on his way there yesterday when he died.

Mr. O'Brien was born in Brighton and was graduated from Boston Latin School.

From the mid 1930s to the early 1950s, he was a well-known vocalist in the area and appeared at such popular downtown Boston nightspots as the Latin Quarter on Winchester street, the Cocoanut Grove on Piedmont street, Steuben's Vienna Room on Tremont street, the Mayfair on Broadway and the Westminster Roof on St. James avenue.

While at the Cocoanut Grove, he sang with Mickey Alpert's and Jaques Renard's orchestras.

He specialized in popular songs and Irish favorites, and one of his most requested songs was "I Believe."

Mr. O'Brien sang on radio for a number of years and made three appearances on Fred Allen's network radio show. Locally he was often a guest on the old Carl Moore Show on WEEI.

For a number of years he and his wife, Alice O'Leary, sang together. She died 14 years ago.

He leaves a daughter, Adrienne McMahon of Reading, and two grandchildren.

        Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
