      • DEATH OF OLD SETTLER.
        Mrs. H. Lemke, one of the Old Settlers of the Township Dies on Friday after a Short Illness.
        Mrs. Augusta Lemke, wife of Herman Lemke, died at her home north of the village on Friday. She had been seriously ill but a short time and her death was quite unexpected. For several years her health had not been the best but there were no alarming symptoms. About a month ago or six weeks ago she went to Albany to visit her daughter, Mrs. Hodel, and was taken ill with a serious liver and stomach trouble. She recovered and came home a short time later. On Sunday, January 16, she was again taken ill and never rallied, passing away peacefully five days later.
        The funeral is to be held tomorrow afternoon from the Lutheran church at 2:o'clock. Rev. Mr. Koehler will conduct the services. The interment is to take place in the cemetery of that church.
        Mrs. Lemke was born in Prussia in 1844 and later came to this country with her parents. They settled in Wisconsin, and then to Lowell in August 1863 she was married to Mr. Lemke. They soon after came to this county and have resided north of the village ever since. Mrs. Lemke was a woman of many excellent qualities, beloved and respected by all who knew her. In her death she is widely mourned.
        She is survived by her husband and nine children, They are Albert, George and Edward of this village; Henry and Emil of LaClede, Idaho, Mrs. Bertha Ellersick, Mrs. Lizzie Ellersick of LaClede, Idaho; Mrs. Minnie Holler of Akely and Mrs. Mary Hodel of Albany. The funeral was delayed awaiting the arrival of all the children. It is expected that those residing in Idaho will reach here this afternoon.

        MRS. HERMAN LEMKE, DEAD
        Died Last Friday Morning of Enlargement of the Liver.
        Mrs. Augusta Lembke, the wife of Herman Lembke, died last Friday morning at eleven o'clock a their home just north of the village. The cause of her death was an enlargement of the liver.
        Mrs. Lembke had been sick for some weeks past, but her death came unexpected. She came to this county with her husband about twenty five years ago, and for the past seventeen years has resided on the farm just north of town where she passed away. She was the mother of a large family of children, four of whom were at her bedside when she passed into the other world; The children are: Albert, Ed and G. W., of this place. Henry and Emil, of the state of Idaho. Mistresses Henry and William Ellersick, of Idaho, Mrs. Mary Hodal of Albany, and Mrs. Minne Hollar, of Akely. Henry and Emil arrived here Tuesday afternoon to be in attendance at the funeral.
        Mrs. Augusta Lembke was about 65 years old at the time of her death and was always a very kind and loving mother and wife who will be missed by all who knew her.
        The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the home, Rev. Robert Koehler officiating, and the remains were laid in their last resting place in the Lutheran cemetery at this place.
        The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community in their hours of sorrow. Minnie Holler and George Lemke, who live in Duluth. Three children died in infancy. The Leader extends its sympathy to those who mourn.
