      Obituary
      • REAPER SUMMONS ANOTHER PIONEER Final Rites Tuesday. Many early day friends gather at chapel to pay last tribute to pioneer The death of WIlliam Ellersick, 75, at his farm home at Laclede early Saturday morning took from the scene another of Bonner County's early pioneers. Mr. Ellersick, who with his family came to Bonner County from Minnesota in 1902, was identified with the lumber business for a number of years. He supervised the construction of the Kootenai saw mill, which he operated for several years before disposing of his property to the Humbird Lumber company. His brothers were affiliated with him in his lumber dealings. After disposing of the Kootenai Mill, Mr. Ellersick moved to what is known as Riverside, near Laclede where he and his brothers build another mill, which they operated for several years. Their operations gave employment to dozens of men. Later William retired from the lumber business and devoted his time to operating his farm. From early in the morning until late at night neighbors observed Mr. Ellersick busy in carrying on his farm work. While his health had not been the best during the past two years, Mr. Ellersick never complained and steadfastly turned his efforts to his farm duties. He was born in Indiana and had moved to Minnesota, where he spent a number of years in the lumber business. Ill One Day. Mr. Ellersick was ill but one day before death called. Before retiring for bed Friday evening he complained that he did not feel well. Mrs. Ellersick administered household remedies he had requested, and in the morning he told her that he felt better and expected to dress as he had chores to do. His wife, however convinced him that he should remain in bed for a while and half hour later it was discovered he had passed away. Besides his widow, Elizabet, he is survived by two sons, Robert in Sandpoint and Samuel, Brookings, Ore. and two daughters, Mrs. E. F. Schmidt, Sandpoint, and Mrs. Lennie McGhee at home. All members of the family were present for the final rites which were held from the moon chapel at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. W. L. Livingston of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment was made in the Pinecrest Cemetery. Scores of early day friends gathered at the chapel to pay their last tribute to an early day resident and a profusion of flowers backed the bier.
