      • Of Hollis, N.H. Captain of the militia in the war of the revolution. Name on record at the DAR Headquarters. A man of considerable wealth and of high standing: representative in the State Legislature. He commanded a company of volumteers at Ticonderoga in 1776 and again in Rhode Island in 1778.

        Daniel Emerson (1746-1820), was captain of the Hollis company at the Ticonderoga Alarm and commanded a mounted company at the Rhode Island Alarm. He was known “As an officer of the church, as a Defender of Freedom, as a magisistrate and legislator, as a friend of the poor.” This is upon his tombstone at Hollis, where he was born and died.
